How to add more volume to your hair
Many people come to us with the same wish: more volume, without losing softness or movement. It is rarely about doing more. It is about doing what is right — in the right order.
Volume is not something you force into the hair. It is something you build, step by step, with an understanding of how the hair behaves.
Introduction: What Do We Mean by Volume?
Volume is not height for the sake of height. For us, it is about balance — between lightness and hold, between control and freedom. Hair with volume feels alive. It moves when you move.
Everything begins with how the hair feels after washing. If it is too heavy, the volume fades quickly. If it is too dry, it loses shape. When the hair is clean, airy and balanced, volume already has something to rest on — even before styling begins.
Step by Step: How We Build Volume That Lasts
In this guide, we show how we approach volume from the foundation. The technique remains the same whether you follow along in a film or stand in front of your mirror at home.
Think of the whole first. Volume is never created in a single moment. It is shaped throughout the entire routine.
Step 1: Cleanse with Lightness
Volume begins in the shower. When we want to create a lighter fall, we use Shampoo Volumising & Thickening. It cleanses gently and leaves no unnecessary weight behind. Already as you rinse, the hair feels supported and subtly structured.
Massage calmly into the scalp. Let the lather pass through the lengths without working them too much.
Step 2: Softness Without Weight
After washing, apply Conditioner Volumising & Thickening through the lengths — never into the scalp. It softens and adds flexibility, while allowing the roots to remain light.
Rinse carefully. The hair should feel soft, not saturated.

Step 3: Prepare the Hair for Shape
Press out excess water and allow the hair to remain slightly damp. This is where you set the intention for the volume.
Notice where the hair naturally wants to fall. Sense where you would like to create lift. The preparation matters as much as the styling itself.
Step 4: Build Volume with Direction
Apply Rootlift Mousse close to the roots, wherever you want support. Lift the hair with your fingers and work in sections.
Blow-dry with direction rather than force. Let the air follow the shape you are creating. Volume grows from movement, not from speed.
Step 5: Fullness Through the Lengths
If the hair needs more body, work a small amount of Thickening Fiber Mousse through the lengths. It creates a denser feeling without removing movement — as if each strand carries a little more presence.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using a conditioner that is too heavy in the scalp area
- Not rinsing thoroughly after washing
- Applying all styling products in one place
- Blow-drying too quickly, without direction
Small adjustments often change everything.
Adjusting the Routine to Your Hair Type
Fine hair: Let the cleansing stage do most of the work. Keep styling minimal.
Thick hair: Distribute products methodically so the volume does not sit only on the surface.
Curly hair: The volume is often already there. Focus on keeping the roots light.
Flat hair: Avoid residue at the scalp. Cleanliness creates lift.

Closing
Volume is not something added at the end. It is created in how you wash, how you apply, and how you allow the hair to dry. When the foundation is right, less effort is required — and the result feels more like you.
A little more air.
A little more movement.
And hair that is free to take its space.
