Grey hair, beautifully cared for
How to keep grey and silver hair soft, bright and full of shine
Grey hair is something you grow into. A few silver strands at the temple, a softer tone through the parting, or a head of hair that has turned fully white. It comes with experience, and it can be one of the most beautiful colours there is.
It does ask for a slightly different kind of care. Grey hair often feels different to the touch, and it shows everything: dullness, dryness and the slightest hint of yellow. With a calm, simple routine, it stays soft and bright, with a shine that catches the light.
Why grey hair feels different
Hair turns grey when it grows without pigment. The strand itself often changes too.
- Texture. Grey hair often feels coarser and wirier than the hair it replaced, and can be harder to smooth.
- Dryness. Over time the scalp tends to produce less of its own oil, so lengths can feel drier and more prone to frizz.
- Shine. A rougher surface reflects less light, so grey hair can look dull even when it is healthy.

Why grey hair can turn yellow
Without pigment, grey and white hair shows every change in tone. Sun, heat styling, pollution, smoke and minerals in tap water can all leave a yellowish cast over time. The best answer is protection: keep the hair moisturised, protect it from heat and sun, and it stays clearer and brighter for longer.
Your routine for grey hair
- Cleanse with protection. Shampoo Repairing & Protecting cleanses gently, while grape seed extract helps protect the hair from heat and sunflower seed extract protects against UV. If your hair mainly feels dry, choose Shampoo Hydrating & Strengthening instead.
- Condition, and give it time. Follow with Conditioner Repairing & Protecting. Organic oils add shine and elasticity, and baobab seed extract helps protect against UV. Leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing.
- Once a week, go deeper. BB Mask – Deep Repair Treatment restores the hair's moisture balance with shea butter and hyaluronic acid. Coarse grey hair softens noticeably.
- Protect and strengthen. Apply a leave-in with heat and colour protection to damp hair: BB Spray – Leave-In Primer for thinner hair, BB Cream – Leave-In Treatment for thicker hair. Both contain peptides and collagen amino acids that help strengthen the hair.
- Finish with shine. A little Smoothing Silk Coat tames wiry strands and leaves a silky finish. For pure light, mist Gloss Spray over the finished style.

Grey, or not quite yet
Some embrace every silver strand. Others prefer to soften the first greys, or the line of regrowth between colour appointments. Root Camouflage blends them in seconds and washes out easily. Read more in When your roots start to show.
For men too
Grey at the temples or through the beard often arrives first in men's hair. The same care applies: a protecting shampoo and conditioner, and a little Smoothing Silk Coat to keep shorter grey hair soft rather than wiry.
A few simple habits
- Wear a hat in strong sun, and rinse your hair after swimming in the sea or a pool.
- Turn the heat down on your hairdryer and styling tools.
- Wash with lukewarm water rather than hot.
- Give your conditioner time, as you would a hair mask.
Questions about grey hair
Is grey hair drier? It often feels that way. The scalp tends to produce less oil over time, and grey strands are often coarser. Rich conditioning and a weekly mask help.
Why does my grey hair look yellow? Sun, heat, pollution and minerals in water can all leave a yellowish tone on hair without pigment. Protecting the hair from heat and UV helps it stay brighter.
Can I keep my grey hair shiny? Yes. Smooth the surface with a caring leave-in, and finish with Smoothing Silk Coat or Gloss Spray.
