When your roots start to show

There are some things you notice immediately when you work with hair. A little bit of regrowth. A few grey hairs that weren’t there yesterday. A slightly more visible scalp around the parting. Or a hairline that suddenly seems to have its own opinion.

None of these things are a problem, of course. Hair changes. That’s part of it.

But sometimes you simply want a little help in between.

We’ve worked with hair and makeup for many years, and one of the things we’ve always loved about beauty is that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the smallest adjustment can make a surprisingly big difference.

This is exactly where root camouflage comes in.

So, what does root camouflage actually do?

Think of it as a temporary touch-up rather than a new hair colour.

Root Camouflage uses colour pigments to cover grey and white hairs and disguise visible regrowth. It can also be used to make areas of visible scalp look less noticeable, creating the illusion of thicker and fuller-looking hair.

The result is temporary and washes out when you wash your hair, which is exactly why we like it. You get to decide when you want a little more coverage and when you don’t.

It’s particularly useful when your next colour appointment is still a little way away. Or when you simply want your hair to look more polished for a dinner, an event, a meeting or a weekend away.

Where can you use it?

The roots are the obvious place, but don’t stop there.

A precise application can be useful around the parting, hairline and temples, especially where grey hairs or regrowth tend to become more visible.

It can also be used on areas where the scalp is more noticeable. A few light sprays can help reduce the contrast between the scalp and the hair, making the hair appear denser.

And yes, men can use it too

We’ve always thought that hair products should be for whoever wants to use them.

Men get grey hairs, too. Hairlines change. Temples become more visible. And sometimes you simply want to soften the appearance of a few silver strands or make an area of the scalp less noticeable.

The same principle applies: use a little where you want it, blend it in and leave the rest alone.

Less is more

This is probably the biggest tip we can give you when using a root touch-up product.

You don’t want to cover everything in one go. Start lightly, focus on the areas you want to disguise and let the colour dry before deciding if you need a little more.

Our Root Camouflage has a microfine, quick-drying formula and a precise nozzle, so you can target exactly where you need it. Shake well and spray lightly from around 5–10 cm away. Let it dry, then add a little more if needed.

If you want a little extra hold, you can finish with a light layer of hairspray.

How do you make it look natural?

The secret is simple: choose a shade that blends naturally with your hair and build the coverage gradually.

The aim isn’t to create a completely new colour. It’s to soften the contrast between your natural hair, your regrowth and your scalp.
